Our Founders
Gary Ross has guided pioneering efforts with a background in Marine Zoolory from San Diego State University, Preparator at the San Diego Natural History Museum, Craftsman, Sailor, Carpenter and Entrepreneur. He currently focuses on his business, Industrial Design and the ocean as a lifelong surfer. He incorporated Highwave Inc. in 1983 in California and continues as the CEO with over 40 patents and several international design awards.
Gary’s son Griffin who is featured as the long and short boarder on this site grew up sharing the same love for the ocean as his father. Griffin has a Mechanical Engineering degree from California State University Long Beach and is currently the CTO of Highwave. Griffin and Gary work together to develop sustainable products for everyday life in addition to their dream of developing a successful wave energy system.
Our Journey
Highwave has original developed products in various trades and develops products for international companies and famous brands, including the Highwave brand. Highwave Ocean Energy LLC is the new name of a division of Highwave formed 2001. The results of the ocean-based efforts are the product of collaboration with many top experts over many years from the Military, NGOs, Academia and the scientific community. Highwave has several US patents and foreign patents pending for this ocean technology.
Highwave is known in other markets but this research has remained mostly private and not promoted. The reef design was discovered at Scripps Institute in San Diego & testing at Scripps for the development of the wave energy converters.
